Church an State in Middle- and Eastern Europe
- Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic and Hungary in comparison -
The goal of the research is to analyze the relationships between the democratic system transformation and the reorganization of affairs between church and state in Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic and Hungary, comparatively. At the center of this scientific interest lie the political and sociocultural aspects of the topic.

The following aspects will be researched in-depth: specific historical prerequisites, various phases of the system's transformation and their impact on the relationship between Church and State, the significance of religion and the church in the new constitution, and the effects of these standards on democratic consolidation. Further, the research aims to reflect on the long-term consequences of these national processes reguarding the european integration process.

The results of the research are expected to be available 2008.
